The first gift is your name. In Rwanda, that moment has its own name: Kwita Izina. The ceremony where newborn baby gorillas recieve a name, belonging, and protection.

In 2025, the 20^th anniversary of this tradition was celebrated in the “Land of a Thousand Hills”, home to the mountain gorillas.

Their conservation takes a tremendous effort, and revenue from tourism also helps local communities.

Llorente, Barrios, and Kokes hared the meaning behind their own names, creating a symbolic bridge between personal history and a culture that celebrates life through naming.

This year, club legend LuisGarcía had the honor of naming a baby gorilla.
